TALENT BRAND ALLIANCE COMMUNITY BLOG
The Official 2023 Talent Brand Award Winners
We find ourselves in the midst of Q4 2023, and during the #TBSummit, the Talent Brand Alliance took a moment to honor the dedication of recruitment marketing and employer branding professionals. In our roles, we consistently prioritize candidates and employees, acknowledging their achievements and supporting them. This event allowed us to shift our focus inward, recognizing the exceptional work that occurs daily within our community.
Three Findings from the 2022 Talent Brand Practitioner Survey
Many companies now understand the critical nature and value of talent branding work and have begun to make it a priority. However, as we connect the dots within our organizations, this means that also means more work, more stakeholders, and more priorities. With the increased activity in our field, we want to embrace information sharing to make and reduce the uncertainty that exists for practitioners.
One way the TBA has been doing that is through the annual Talent Brand Practitioner Survey. This year marks our third survey of the community, and we wanted to give you a sneak peak into a few of the many interesting insights from this year’s survey.
The Official 2022 Talent Brand Award Winners
We are somehow already in Q3 2022, and we at the Talent Brand Alliance took some critical time last week to celebrate the hard work of recruitment marketing and employer branding among our fellow practitioners. We all hold roles in which we constantly focus on candidates and employees, recognizing their accomplishments and championing them. It was a day to turn the spotlight inwards and acknowledge the incredible work being done every day. And the winners are…

Why the TBA Survey Matters
Help our community evolve by participating in our talent brand practitioner survey.

People Trust People, Not Brands
DID COVID EXPOSE THE EMPLOYEE ADVOCACY GAP IN YOUR EMPLOYER BRAND STRATEGY?
When COVID forced in-office workplaces to go remote, their respective cultures were immediately impacted. In the drop of a hat, companies needed to adapt to the new digital environments, and employer brand leaders had to shift their employee advocacy plans to align with the changes.
The Meaning of Mentorship Series - Alex Her
How do you find a mentor, or even realize that you need one? What do you bring to your mentor, vs your boss? How do you work with a mentee effectively, so that you both benefit from the relationship? How do you know that relationship is working? In this series, we explore the rich and dynamic relationship between mentors and mentees through the stories of our TBA community members, so that you have real-world examples and takeaways as you embark on, or further develop, your own mentorship journey. Today, we kick things off with our Marketing Committee head, Alex Her (he/him)!
Creating Equitable Content: #TBSummit Take-aways
In the past year, the topic of Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) has moved to the forefront of employer brand and recruitment marketing strategies. At last month’s #TBSummit, Lisa Smith-Strother shared her approach to Creating Equitable Content.
As the VP and Global Head of Employer Marketing for RELX, Lisa is at the helm of Diversity TA Branding. She provided insights from RELX’s content strategy this past year, where diversity content and engagement are on the rise: Not only has her company increased the frequency of diversity content, but they have seen a 30% increase in engagement and employee sharing up 17%.
Differentiating Your In-Person Brand
When it comes to our lives at work, attitudes have changed dramatically over the last year. And the way companies attract and retain talent may never be the same. There are so many questions around returning to work, in particular for employees who have been able to work from home for the last year and a half. What questions should employers be answering and how does this impact employer brand communication?
The Solo Talent Branders Series: Ernst Schipper - Vol. 1
Shout out to all solo-branders! Ever since I started freelancing, I’ve often been the first employer brand practitioner in a company. Having a solo brander often means an organization has taken a step toward a mature recruitment approach, but many struggle with that step.
Employer Brand Roadmaps

With so many directives and options, Crystal Miller Ray and Rachel [last name] led a member call to distill some advice on getting started using this tactic to lay out your EB and RM plans.
Member Call Recap: Glassdoor & Creating a strategy that works
Glassdoor. The review site that we have a love/hate relationship with. It’s one of the main platforms out there that provides a perception of organisations that we can’t control. So how do we manage it effectively? From creating the right strategy for your organisation, to getting effective leadersp buy in and writing reviews that really listen, our recent TBA member call went through how we can properly manage the platform.
Employer Brand and Recruiting Hourly Employees
In the current job market, competition for hourly talent spans across industries. Regardless of whether a job is in healthcare, logistics, or customer service, hiring managers find themselves competing for the same talent. When it comes to communicating well to potential candidates and then retaining great hourly talent once they join the team, talent branding plays a pivotal role.

Member Call Recap: Diversity, Equity & Inclusion in Employer Brand
Diversity. Equity. Inclusion. For a time, these words have simply identified metrics to follow. The depth of their meaning reflects the fullness of our humanity, and priority conversations in C-suites are breathing life into their companies by making these organization-wide priorities. As the tide changes from DE&I simply as talent acquisition buzz words to substantive initiatives, what does that mean for our brands?
We discussed exactly this on a recent TBA member call. Here are some points to ponder as you guide conversations, activities, and practices that shape your organization.
TBA Member Call Recap: LinkedIn or Out?
As Talent Branders, when we’re given the keys to run our strategy, our first reaction is to look at the traditional networks in terms of creating content. By doing that, you naturally look at Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. More times than none, our marketing peers don’t feel that employer brand has a place on LinkedIn, so we in turn discount the platform to some extent. LinkedIn is simply considered to be a place to share your jobs (paid and organically).
But what if we took a different approach to LinkedIn?
Going Agile with Your Employer Brand
Many employer branding practitioners will agree that when you are setting up employer branding in your organisation, you won’t have a lot of budget to start with. And if you have to build this brand across borders, your budget dilutes even more. This post is showcasing a way of setting up the strategy and creating your employer brand momentum.
